Imogene Pass Run

It is offically the end of the summer here at 8,500 feet! This past weekend- my friends Angie, Ann and I ran Imogene Pass There was over 5,000 feet of veritcal elevation gain, a total run of 17.6 miles. From miles 7-10, there is a 1,000 feet every mile. The summit elevation is 13,200 feet- offering pain killers and chicken both at the top. A great run and pretty tough. It was a stunning day! It started in Ouray, Co and ended up in the town of Telluride. There was not a cloud in the sky and it was absolutely beautiful. It was wonderful to be able to do it with great girl friends and stay in Angie's family's cabin in Telluride. We all had a great time- I would do it again in a heart beat and would know how to train a little differently this time. Thank you Jesus for lungs and legs!

The colors are already starting to slightly change here!

Heading off to the San Juans..........

I am heading off the the San Juan Mountains today afterwork. These are my very favorite mountains for several reasons! I am excited to go back to the place where I have such great memories. This is near where Mandy and Eli lived when they were in Durango. I am headed down with my friend Steph to do some mountain biking for the weekend. I am looking forward to it!

The Bewildering Call of God

The Bewildering Call of God
ODB RADIO: | Download
READ:
’. . . and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.’ . . . But they understood none of these things . . . —Luke 18:31, 34God called Jesus Christ to what seemed absolute disaster. And Jesus Christ called His disciples to see Him put to death, leading every one of them to the place where their hearts were broken. His life was an absolute failure from every standpoint except God’s. But what seemed to be failure from man’s standpoint was a triumph from God’s standpoint, because God’s purpose is never the same as man’s purpose.

This bewildering call of God comes into our lives as well. The call of God can never be understood absolutely or explained externally; it is a call that can only be perceived and understood internally by our true inner-nature. The call of God is like the call of the sea— no one hears it except the person who has the nature of the sea in him. What God calls us to cannot be definitely stated, because His call is simply to be His friend to accomplish His own purposes. Our real test is in truly believing that God knows what He desires. The things that happen do not happen by chance— they happen entirely by the decree of God. God is sovereignly working out His own purposes.

If we are in fellowship and oneness with God and recognize that He is taking us into His purposes, then we will no longer strive to find out what His purposes are. As we grow in the Christian life, it becomes simpler to us, because we are less inclined to say, "I wonder why God allowed this or that?" And we begin to see that the compelling purpose of God lies behind everything in life, and that God is divinely shaping us into oneness with that purpose. A Christian is someone who trusts in the knowledge and the wisdom of God, not in his own abilities. If we have a purpose of our own, it destroys the simplicity and the calm, relaxed pace which should be characteristic of the children of God.

A few shots over the summer.....

fun girls in colorado!

This was a fun summer girls night. we went to a clint black concert.

This is Travis and Ann- I spend a lot of time with these two.

There is a small picture of lance in the yellow jersey.

This is Travis. I gave him a pony tail for the race :)

The summer has been pretty busy and I have a lame camera- which is the reason for the lack of pictures. Here are a few over the summer. This last weekend I went with some friends to Leadville to watch the Leadville 100 mountain biking race. We intersected the trail several times to see Lance Armstrong and Dave Wiems ( a Colorado boy)They drafted each other the entire way, until about 15 miles out... Lance was done and Dave Wiems came in first! It was a great race and pretty cool to see Lance.
